Saveur

I'm actually feeling rather tired now and the baby has fallen asleep, but I thought I better do a post . Have been and might be a little busy the next few days, so I might not be able to do a proper post until awhile.

About two weeks back, Lihai and I went to Saveur. It was an impulsive decision that morning, but it had always been a place I wanted to go. So yayy we finally tried it!!

When we arrived the place had not even open, but there was already a queue that had formed. Normally, I shun from queues. Even prior to having a baby in my life, I usually don't like to dine at places where there's a queue. I just feel like it's a complete waste of time and I just don't like to wait. This time, I couldn't say no, so you can imagine how much I wanted to try their food!

We waited about 15 mins and the place opened!!! I must say that their service was excellent. You would not really expect that from a place that is serving dishes at a relatively lower prices than their competitors. Moreover, their staff comprised mostly of youths, whom you would think might not take their job seriously or who might not have been trained to provide great service, but they did and it didn't seem like they had been trained, it was more like using their own initiative and they were like really efficient. That made all the waiting worth it! I'm actually quite particular about service, it can either piss me off real bad or make my day. Even if the food was awesome, if the service is bad, I wouldn't go back there, probably only if it is some kind of comfort food I need.

On to the food!! I was feeling pretty famished, and almost felt like ordering the whole menu, but of course we did not!

Angel Hair Pasta With Sherry Minced Pork And Sakura Ebi

I personally prefer the Angel Hair Pasta at ToTT as I felt this one was a little on the dry side. Nevertheless, it was still yummy. Might give the tiger prawn one a try the next time.

Pan Fried Foie Gras With Lentil And Pickled Onion [70g]

This was so awesome!!! Wanted to order more but I didn't want to be greedy! Omg, totally craving it now! This is a must-try! How can you say no to Foie Gras? Best thing on earthhhh!

Confit Of Duck With Orange Segment And Sauté Shitake

Lihai ordered this and it was the first time we both tried Confit of Duck so I don't really know how it is supposed to be. It was nice, but I wouldn't order it if I go back the next time. I'm also not really a duck person, more of a pork person...which let me to order...

Crispy Pork Belly With 62.5degree Egg With Diced Vegetable

Love love love pork belly! I always must order the shao rou when I eat dim sum. It's so fattening but so good!! Of course this did not taste like shao rou luh. I absolutely loved the crispy skin and every part of the pork belly. However, towards the end it got a little jelat when mixed with the egg. That part was abit disappointing but I guess that's how it's supposed to be and I'm just the easily feel jelat kinda person. I would still order it though except maybe skip the egg.

Overall, I would totally go back to Saveur. Affordable prices, yummy food, and great service. Thumbs up! Would give them four thumbs but I only have two. You know what I mean. You really gotta try the foie gras. Super worth it for the price also. I really liked the ambience. Laidback and chill, like an atas kopitiam with awesome food. It's also rather kid-friendly. Though their place wasn't that big, they still let us bring our pram it and helped us park it next to our table. Staff were also very initiative and asked if they could get water for Kaitlin. Somehow we got a seat next to kitchen, so it was interesting to see how they worked. They move really fast okay. Really impressed.
