Review: Ecover ZERO Range - Eco-friendly cleaning products for Sensitive Skin

Since young, I have had eczema and very sensitive skin and sadly though my condition has improved I still do face the problem every now and then. Honestly, it can be quite a pain in the butt cos that means I have to deal with the itch and all and that on it's own can be very frustrating. Not forgetting I have to make sure to always moisturize.

Daddy Li says I'm not meant to do housework cos after a few days of washing dishes and doing the laundry my hands will start to get very dry. This even though I moisturize as religiously as possible. By the end of the week, my hands will start itching and sometimes peel as well D: As a result, I hardly do these two chores and when I do, the husband will always ask me to wear gloves cos he knows how bad it can get. The thing is..I hate wearing gloves cos it's just so hard to grip on to everything and I just feel like whatever I am washing just ain't clean enough.

Well, good news came for me when I was introduced to Ecover's ZERO range!

I'll be completely frank and say that I've never heard of Ecover prior to this, much less notice it during our supermarket trips. Well, boy was I glad that I now know of it and I'm even happier to have been able to test out their ZERO range which has been formulated to reduce allergic symptoms.

The ZERO range consists of a washing up liquid, laundry liquid and fabric conditioner. The products are made from plant-based and mineral ingredients. With 0% fragrance, 0% colouring and it's phosphate-free formulation, the range has also been awarded the coveted stamp of approval from Allergy UK.

Having tried out all three products for slightly more than a month now, I'm glad to say that I am liking the products!

1. Clean Job
All three products clearly do their job well. Our dishes are squeaky clean and our apparels and towels are laundry fresh!

The washing up liquid for dishes is able to clean off the stains on our plates easily. The best part is that not much is needed to do it's job and it is comparable to the common dishwashing liquids that most households use.

The laundry liquid and fabric conditioner have not caused us any laundry problems thus far. As the products are fragrance-free, our laundry does not end up smelling of fresh scents but it does have the clean smell. I would rather give up the fresh scents than to have our skins irritated by all the chemicals in normal laundry products. This especially since Kaitlin and I have sensitive skin.

2. No Skin Irritation
Thus far, I have not experienced any skin irritations on my hands. They did get slightly dry, but thankfully nothing more serious than that - no itch or peeling. I guess my hands do get more dry than most others who do the laundry as firstly I have sensitive skin, and secondly we don't own a washing machine - we handwash our clothes. As a result, my skin comes into more contact with the laundry liquid.

Kaitlin has sensitive skin, so sometimes she will experience rashes. Thus, we do still use baby laundry liquids to wash her clothes. However, the past month I decided to do a switch and wash them with Ecover's laundry liquid. She's has had no problems so far. I guess this is good news as we can now all use the same laundry liquid to wash our clothes!

3. Environmentally Friendly
I'm not an environmental advocate, but it does make me happy if I can do something good for the environment. Ecover's products are eco-friendly from the products itself to the packaging used for it's products. Afterall, I do not want my kids and future grandchildren to live in a world of litter and pollution. It's a win-win situation, I get to have clean clothes and dishes free of toxic chemicals and yet contribute to making the environment a better place.

If you have sensitive skin just like me, I do recommend that you give Ecover's newly launched ZERO range a try. It has worked for me, and it might just work for you too! In fact, I am really glad to have discovered Ecover's ZERO range that is healthy for my family. I now know that in future, I do not have to worry about washing liquids harming Kaitlin's sensitive skin when we eventually teach her how to help out with the household chores.

Ecover's ZERO range of products are available at all Home-Fix stores, and I have also seen them stocked up at some supermarkets like Cold Storage and The Market Place.

Alternatively, you can purchase Ecover's products directly from their Singapore website. The best part is that you can enjoy a special 20% off (excludes promo items) when you use the code 'ECV20HLSS'. Do note that the code is valid till 31 August 2014.
