Review and Giveaway: Sponky The Lizard Hunter Lift-The-Flap Book

Sponky is a new licensed character created by The Amazing Baby Company, which is one of the largest Nursery brand distributors in Australia.

Sponky is a chihuahua from Melbourne, Australia who has his very own cartoon show on YouTube as well as a range of sensory-stimulating nursery toys that are perfect for newborn babies and young toddlers. In addition to the range of toys, there's also a life-the-flap storybook that is based on Sponky's lizard hunting adventures in the cartoon (video below) where he tries to hunt for the lizard.

Kaitlin was excited to receive the book and once I passed it to her she started spelling out Sponky's name!

I'm a huge fan of books with 'lift-the-flaps' as I find it a good way to get young ones interested in reading and engage them in the story. As you can see, Kaitlin enjoyed reading the book very much and sometimes even lifted the flaps before I was done reading the words on that page.

Though some animals and insects are introduced in this book, the friendly looking characters make the book a joy to read. Kaitlin is a little afraid of insects, but she didn't find the insects scary in this book and went on to flip the book a second time after we were done reading.

I personally liked that the book was a short and simple one. Perfect for the younger kids who have a shorter attention span and the words used are easy to read, making it an ideal book for toddlers who have just began learning to read independently. The hardcover book also means that it's less likely to be accidentally damaged when placed in the hands of toddlers! Hooray for us parents who have to deal with cries over torn books when it's not even our fault -.- Yup, fellow parents I'm sure you know what I mean.
